WE GOT THE PRECIOUS BLUEBERRY DAUGHTER. Though it was a bit of chaos to actually get Lucina.

To start off, we got the Lucina versus battle and I was playing Lucario, a character I have next to NO experience in. I was screaming and apologizing for my life going so horribly wrong and failing the blueberry child in every way, even while figuring out Lucario's energy orbs and kicking her ass.

And then I forgot what the jump button was.

And got ringed out.

So it fell to my pal, the other huge FE:A fan, to get through the rematch gauntlet (we had five other fighters between us and the Lucina rematch) while I provided moral support via playing "Whatever It Takes" by Imagine Dragons. (And leading to a spectacular KO against Ganondorf when the WHATEVER IT TAAAAAAKES kicked in.) But after a ten minute cool down spent messing around in WoL, we got our Lucina rematch. Friend opted for Zelda in a princess vs. princess throw down. And promptly realized Lucina hits like a goddamnn truck (taking after her dad) and got to 174% damage... But still managed to get in a win. We did a lot of screaming and appreciating that her eye has the Brand in it.

And concluded that miracles have happened today, and we are both very much satisfied with everything.

There's not too much to report about today, beyond KOing smol Paluntena in WoL with a will timed soccer ball to the face... And finally doing official co-op via classic mode! We got a handful of characters unlocked, enough to feel good about doing some group play.

And TBH, I think that co-op is my favorite mode in the game. Not versus, to be clear! (Though it has its time and place) But I like co-op; it's fun to team up and fight giant bosses, and dual character battles, and then blast the credits up together while singing along to the character's theme music. I'm not as big of a Zelda fan as I could be, so hearing that smooth as silk flamenco music for Sheik was a very pleasant surprise!

This said, I know the blueberry daughter is so *close* to being unlocked! We got Yoshi, we got Marth, we could play either of those characters on classic and work on unlocking Lucina. And once we do, I will be very happy indeed. (Along with Chrom. And Robin. And my boy Cloud even if he's from a completely different series. I got my unlock wishlist.)

It's so nice to be on the same wavelength as a friend, where we both scream "IT'S REYN TIME!" when we see the Xenoblade spirit. Now that we've got Marth unlocked, I'm maining him while friend continues with Sheik or Inkling, depending on mood.

We both shrieked "ROBIN NO!" when she finally appeared with Blaze the cat in "The Floor Is Lava" followed by screaming "Robin why are you here!?" We both like her a lot, contrasted with all the trash talking with M!Robin. After a surprising amount of asskicking from Robin, Kirby Conquered All Odds in proving who is the ultimate pink fighter. (Though F!Robin's pink costume is very pretty!) Likewise there was some screaming over Sakura.

And after a great deal of screaming, studying, trash talking (in the form of "What've you got!? YOU AIN'T GOT SHIT! What've you got- You got death, apparently.") cursing, and making up fun new names for boss attacks (the spinning vortex of terror, OLE!, corkscrew shockwave, and of course HUGS!*) we got Galleom! Hilariously, it was actually the Smash newbie (me) who won the boss battle with Marth.

*Immortalized by Galleom's grab attack, and me screaming "I DON'T WANT HUGS! Well actually I DO want hugs, but not from you!"

Whereupon we called it a night, because that Metal Gear Rex and Doctor Wily fight are not to be taken lightly.

Well, first off we made it up to Breckenridge without the turbo cracking in half and destroying the car engine. (As happened the last time we planned a weekend get away. The subaru forester fought like a true warrior, though. And now I drive a mini cooper!) We partook in the frozen pizza and zesty Mongolian BBQ buffalo blue cheese chicken.

...Please don't make that face, it's actually a really good combo of spice and kick-you-in-the-sinus.

And with the drive and dinner accomplished, it is time to SMASH! Highlights include:
