SMASH WEEK Begins!

kaysperWell, first off we made it up to Breckenridge without the turbo cracking in half and destroying the car engine. (As happened the last time we planned a weekend get away. The subaru forester fought like a true warrior, though. And now I drive a mini cooper!) We partook in the frozen pizza and zesty Mongolian BBQ buffalo blue cheese chicken.
...Please don't make that face, it's actually a really good combo of spice and kick-you-in-the-sinus.
And with the drive and dinner accomplished, it is time to SMASH! Highlights include:
Houndoom unlocked as first spirit.
With Eevee as the second spirit (and we both love eevee) the reaction was from friend was "Aww eevee!" While mine was "eevee, what the FUCK!?" (I feel very sad when my favorite mons are enslaved by the forces of evil. And thus I swear. In fact swearing and button mashing is my default for Smash.)
Boss Mario got spikey pimp slapped. (He ran right into the thing, during the first seconds of the fight!)
We did a Rock-Paper-Scissor duel to decide between Sheik and Marth; one win for friend, one win for me, a tie when we both threw scissors, and then a win for them and electing to go with Sheik. And then cursing out Master Hand closing off the Marth option. (In fact my go to when Master Hand appears tends to be "OH YOU FUCKER! YOU ARE THE BIGGEST FUCKER!" And as it turns out I also cuss a lot when fighting enemies... But! It does get results!)
We've been maining Sheik through most of the forest, and onwards with friend being the pro, and me just button mashing and learning as I go. I tend to switch to Kirby when it's my turn, as I like the color pink, his moveset, and all the funny little hats and hair.
And how appropriate was it, that our first major obstacle was the Fire Emblem trio of axe Belmonts? We had to tag team a LOT to get through it, but managed. The ground pounding King Dedes were also a problem, but ended up being no match for a quick Kirby switch in. Also the Animal Crossing Shadow Villager is the stuff nightmares are made of. (THAT DEAD EYED STARE)
We also had an initial epic Lucario fight with friend maining Sheik and doing this long drawn out battle, only for Lucario to go mega and KO. I decided to tag in as Kirby... And won the fight through pure luck in the form of knocking him off the ring, and him not being able to get back on. What followed was five minutes of helpless laughter and me screaming "That's BULLSHIT! I wanted an epic boss battle! THIS IS BULLSHIT!"
And as it turns out we were able to double back to Marth, and through pure blind luck and finding a red switch and expectantly screaming "Yes? YES? YES!?" as it opened each of the gates, we finally got our first Fire Emblem character.
And overall we've just had a fun time screaming our way through Smash.
