SMASH WEEK Continues

It's so nice to be on the same wavelength as a friend, where we both scream "IT'S REYN TIME!" when we see the Xenoblade spirit. Now that we've got Marth unlocked, I'm maining him while friend continues with Sheik or Inkling, depending on mood.

We both shrieked "ROBIN NO!" when she finally appeared with Blaze the cat in "The Floor Is Lava" followed by screaming "Robin why are you here!?" We both like her a lot, contrasted with all the trash talking with M!Robin. After a surprising amount of asskicking from Robin, Kirby Conquered All Odds in proving who is the ultimate pink fighter. (Though F!Robin's pink costume is very pretty!) Likewise there was some screaming over Sakura.

And after a great deal of screaming, studying, trash talking (in the form of "What've you got!? YOU AIN'T GOT SHIT! What've you got- You got death, apparently.") cursing, and making up fun new names for boss attacks (the spinning vortex of terror, OLE!, corkscrew shockwave, and of course HUGS!*) we got Galleom! Hilariously, it was actually the Smash newbie (me) who won the boss battle with Marth.

*Immortalized by Galleom's grab attack, and me screaming "I DON'T WANT HUGS! Well actually I DO want hugs, but not from you!"

Whereupon we called it a night, because that Metal Gear Rex and Doctor Wily fight are not to be taken lightly.

Hahaha, "I'm winning, I'm win--oh, I'm dead" sums up my WoL experiences pretty well so far. It's a ton of fun, though! And Kirby really shines in this mode, IMO, he's such a great little puffball of death.

Kirby has saved the day so many times in our WoL playthrough. (That or just REALLY weird AI behavior if we manage to knock them off a ledge.) Though slow but sure, I'm getting the hang of Marth.

It's also been really nice to be able to play Smash with friends, and alternate between players and characters when we get a KO! (Which depending on the spirit, can be REALLY frequent.) I know we're still a long way off from getting our favorite characters, but the journey has still been really fun and filled with a lot of weird phrases uttered in the heat of battle.

Kirby is honestly the true hero of this mode, he might not be top-tier but he's weirdly reliable when I'm coming up against an enemy I really struggle with.

Playing WoL with a group of friends sounds like a ton of fun! I wouldn't have considered playing that mode as a party game time thing, but it's a really great idea now that I think about it.

Well as it turned out, we actually had our first truly co-op experience tonight! It was great, we played a lot of Zelda and Fire Emblem co-op, with Kirby appearing in his blue skin. And as it turns out, that was a lot of fun too! With lots of screaming and going "AAAA THIS GAME IS SO GOOOOOOOOD!"

It's just been such a fun time all around!
