Post Surgery Body Stuff
Nov. 27th, 2018 09:11 pmThings that I did not realize corrective surgery for a hernia would entail:
A surprisingly expansive bandage that needed to get changed twice, with how much and often I soaked through it. (Once immediately after surgery, once a day after surgery, and then thankfully kept my bandages clean.)
How much you use your core muscles for every damn thing, and how much you miss them when there's a big cut and stitch in your middle.
The fact that I no longer have a belly button, due to the surgery and mesh put in place. It's still really surreal to look down and see that I only have scabs and scar tissue, and nothing else. It'll probably stay weird for a while. But given that I'm not bleeding anymore, and can use my core without worrying about strain on the skin, I'mma going to call it worth it.
