Doing this meme because.

1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 5?
I REMEMBER THAT DAY WELL because it was a completely arbitrary decision. I was planning on pairing Chrom up with Sumia, I seriously well and truly was. They were the closest thing to a canon ship in Fire Emblem, given that they had little cutscenes and everything. And I figured Robin would remain an awesome queer bachelorette forever.
(…Although I do still have that AU where Chrom is Chromia, and she and Robin embark on an epic lesbian fantasy romance. I might need to revisit that idea some day.)
BUT for whatever reason (I think because they performed so well in the field together with good stat boosts and assists) I thought I’d at least see what their S-Rank was like.
AND THEN after Chrom’s deep breathing exercise, I couldn’t say no to those two complete dorks. I have a soft spot for complete but oddly competent dorks. I think I started seriously shipping them post chapter 10, with that whole “When you fall I’ll pick you up” line. Because I’m a sucker for those lines as well.
It was a really weird chain of events leading up to this decision.
2. Have you ever read fanfiction about 2?
Pfff, it’s not like I bookmark it or make little rec lists or anything like that…
…Yes. Yes I do. And being a greedy fan, I always want MORE of it. Still waiting on fandom to produce the flat out WEIRD AUs, too. Like not the highschool AU, but the “Conner is from the Fire Nation and M’gann is an air nomad BUT WILL THEY TRIUMPH WITH THEIR STAR CROSSED LOVE!?” That sort of wonderful creative mess that happens at 11 PM or 1 AM.
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr ID?
…Actually, no. No, I haven’t had that set up. Yet. I’ve been recently re-submerging myself in Sailor Moon, and waiting to finally, FINALLY give S a proper viewing. Still, there was that one time as a junior high student I printed out every page of Sailor Moon art I could and stored it in a folder. Does that count?
4. If 3 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be?
Hope that the writers have the best reason in the universe for it, and that it somehow results in famine and disease being cured, and world peace being achievable as that’s really the only acceptable reason to break up a queer canon romance.
5. Why is 1 so important?
Cannibal demon lesbians are always important. Also they were one of my first ever femslash pairings where I took what canon gave me and RAN with it like hell.
6. Is 4 a funny ship or a serious ship?
Serious with moments of funny? It’s Sailor Moon, I think by default it’s a 50/50 split of both.
7. Out of all your ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
…All of them? I tend to go for the ships where there’s some sort of spark and reaction between the two involved. Argilla and Jinana are probably the most low key, but even then their interactions are great. Korra and Asami were on a slow burn, Conner and M’gann I screamed at from Episode 2 NO DON’T YOU DARE, DON’T YOU DARE INVOLVE MY FEELINGS WITH THIS, etc.
8. Of all the ships, which ship has the strongest bond?
WELL. On the one hand Chrom and Robin managed to cheat her being erased from existence through the bonds of friendship and love, and fell in love with each other all over again across timelines and dimensions.
But on the OTHER hand they never punched a psychic villain in the brain with the power of love like Conner and M’gann did. Bit hard to say.
9. How many times have you read/watched 2’s fandom?
…Too many times. At least for Season 1.
10. Which ship lasted the longest?
Either Argilla and Jinana or Haruka and Michiru by virtue of being the oldest and on and off most continuous.
11. How many times, if ever, has 5 broken up?
I don’t think ever? They’re kind of one of those adorable ETERNAL WUV sort of deals.
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 1 or 3?
I started answering by thinking “zombies are boring… Wait. Unless they’re the Warm Bodies type of zombies with that awesome metaphor of connection and depression and all that good stuff. Because then that would be AWESOME and maybe BOTH pairings would make it out alive because it’s a zombie love story-
Oh oh OH and maybe one half of the pairings is ALREADY DEAD and a zombie and they have to come back to life by remembering there are good things in life after all and getting help from their significant other and oooh that would be coooooool.”
13. Did 4 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
Well there was that one time they went undercover in America-Japan-Land and had to pretend that they were cousins…
14. Is 5 still together?
Depends on the save file you play and your attitudes in the fandom, but for the most part yes.
15. Is 1 canon?
Kind of sort of maybe? Depends on how you feel about how the cutscenes presented it, the context of it in the world, how DARNED MUCH Argilla focuses on Jinana in her dialogue (she’s smitten, one way or another) and however the hell the novels are going to go down with it.
16. If all five ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
None of them would win. They would all be reduced to the brink of death and be turned into the most incredible qrotesque abominations* imaginable while still retaining shreds of their original selves, gradually forming a more coherent sense of self and their original minds before enacting a glorious and bloody revolution against the powers that be in that world in order to reclaim their identities and topple the social order to create something strange, new, and beautiful in its own bizarre way.
Now someone get on writing that AU, and maybe I’ll actually read a Hunger Games fanfic for once in my life.
*”Muttation” still sounds completely silly in my ears. Whenever I hear it, I feel like I should get the puppy biscuits out for a swarm of adorable mixed breed puppies with superpowers instead of fearing for my life.
17. Has anyone ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship?
Nooot that I know of? Maybe Validar would count with all those attempts to stabbify Chrom and get Robin to be a dark god of destruction and to JOIN THE DARK SIDE? (In all honesty those are some of my FAVORITE moments in the game, too. I will always cherish the first… or is it second? Chrom and Robin fight against him while defending Emmeryn. The combos and gameplay of that battle were a wonderful thing to behold.)
18. Which ship(s) would you defend to the death and beyond?
ALL OF THEM? I rather like my ships for various reasons.
19. Have you ever spent hours a day going through 3’s tumblr page?
I SPENT MANY HOURS back in December browsing the tag, feeling as though I was riding a purple rainbow unicorn through the masses and accepting the bitter tears of certain fans as tribute.
…It was kind of wonderful. Otherwise I’m sporadic about checking the tag, but then I tend to spend hours when I DO check it. And find a lot of stuff for the queue.
20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the five ships to break up forever, which ship would you sink?
You know, this begs some questions in turn. Why does this witch want to do this? By what power is she enforcing this decision? What are the consequences? Does she just melt if you dump water on her, or is she like Morwen from the Enchanted Forest in which case why would she be wasting her time on this?
All of which is to say “none of them, screw off.”
